AN ECO-FRIENDLY VEGETABLE BOX
Packaging Design Process
PROJECT OVERVIEW

To design an eco-friendly packaging box for export of vegetables i.e. carrot, bitter gourd, bottle gourd, okra, turnip, green bean etc.
PROJECT DURATION

1
Month
PROBLEM STATEMENT

1. The current F & V packaging boxes are not eco-friendly.
2.  The majority of them appear dirty at the time of arrival in the destination country.
3. The packaging box should accommodate the majority of vegetables, since in export Pakistani vegetables are most often sold as a group and delivered together.
TOOLS
USER CENTERIC DESIGN PROCESS

1. Understand
2. Specify
3. Design
4. Evaluate
1. UNDERSTAND

In this process, I understand how the user experience the product or similar products. A process, where I have done extensive research about the eco-friendly packaging, existing market practices and their effect of the environment. For primary research, I visited 3 pack houses who deal in F & V packaging and to conduct secondary research, I used the Internet as a source of information i.e. reading authentic packaging articles and world wide practices.

2. SPECIFY

Based on my research, I find out what are the top user issues that need to be resolved. Environmental issue is one of the major issue that needed to be resolved first. For packaging material, I decided Kraft paper because of its eco-friendly properties and for for packaging box size and dimensions, I came to a size that incorporate many SKU and easy to carry for user too.

3. DESIGN

In this process, I sketched many designs first and then get feedback from the team. After the hand sketched, I designed that in software i.e. Adobe Illustrator.

4. EVALUATE

A discussion has been held with the printing company regarding its complexities and other issues. The final design has been printed after being approved by all the concerned individuals.
